Tata Motors is poised to make a significant impact in India’s electric vehicle (EV) market with the upcoming Tata Harrier EV. Scheduled for launch on June 3, 2025, this electric SUV represents Tata’s foray into the premium EV segment, building upon the success of its existing electric lineup.

A Leap into the Premium EV Segment

The Harrier EV is built on Tata’s Acti.ev platform, a dedicated electric vehicle architecture derived from the OMEGA platform. This foundation allows for a spacious interior, robust performance, and advanced features. Tata Motors EV

Performance and Range

  • Battery Capacity: While Tata Motors has not officially disclosed the battery specifications, reports suggest a capacity ranging between 60 kWh to 75 kWh.
  • Driving Range: The Harrier EV is expected to offer a real-world range of approximately 500 km on a single charge, making it one of the most capable electric SUVs in its class.
  • Drivetrain: A notable feature is the introduction of an All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system, achieved through a dual-motor setup, enhancing traction and off-road capabilities.

Design and Features

The Harrier EV retains the bold and muscular design of its internal combustion engine (ICE) counterpart, with EV-specific enhancements:

  • Exterior: Closed-off grille for improved aerodynamics, connected LED DRLs, and distinctive alloy wheels.
  • Interior: A modern cabin equipped with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and premium materials throughout.
  • Safety and Technology: Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), 360-degree camera, wireless charging, and over-the-air (OTA) updates are expected to be part of the package.

Pricing and Competition

The Tata Harrier EV is anticipated to be priced between ₹24 lakh to ₹28 lakh (ex-showroom), positioning it competitively against rivals like the Mahindra XUV.e9, BYD Atto 3, and the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV.

Conclusion

With the launch of the Harrier EV, Tata Motors is set to strengthen its position in the EV market, offering consumers a blend of performance, range, and advanced features in a premium SUV package. The official unveiling on June 3 will provide more detailed insights into this exciting addition to Tata’s electric vehicle portfolio.
